In the Breath is a collection of jacquard knit fabrics that were designed to captivate the eye of any viewer with their unique patterns and color palettes. Each pattern in this collection was designed to make the viewer feel like the fabrics are breathing. I designed the fabrics this way becuase I thought it would be an interesting juxtaposition to the tight-fitting, yet free flowing silhouettes shown above. When a consumer wears one of these garments, they will feel a sense of freedom and exhilaration from the bold colors and trippy patterns. They will feel influenced to move about and breathe deeply much like the patterns that they are adorned in.
Each fabric in this collection was developed by hand and then digitized using a combination of procreate and photoshop. After each pattern was developed and wach repeatable tile was made, I transfered the designs into Shima Seiki’s Apex Knit Design software. While in this software I developed a simulation of each fabric using a yarn library of different cotton yarns.
